About
Deep in the heart of Osreton lies the world's largest organism. The Primordial Forest, or Prim as Osretonians affectionately call it, is a clonal colony of sequoia tree that takes up most of the Ommak National Park. This marvel of nature covers roughly 700,000 acres and is home to roughly 200,000,000 individual trees. Thanks to it's amazing size, Prim clocks in at roughly 108,862,168,800 tons, though it's exact weight is hard to pinpoint due to it's enormous size.
Scientists estimate that Prim sprung up from a single seed around 100,000 years ago, around the time of the first recognizable humans. Due to it's vast age, Prim has many unique features about it. One of the most obvious is the amount of unique animals in Osreton that either live in the forest or have originated from it. Less obvious is the way Prim itself behaves. While it usually lies in a type of dormant state that makes it indistinguishable from any other forest, when threatened it attempts to protect itself to the best of it's abilities. Scientists do not have a complete grasp of what Prim is capable of, but many accounts have been made of its abilities in the past. Reports of increased aggression in wildlife, auditory and visual hallucinations, and disruptions in the ground (dubbed miniquakes) have been documented throughout Osreton's history.
Due to Prim's natural significance and the danger it can cause when provoked, the entire organism is heavily protected. It is highly illegal to attempt to harvest trees from the creature and poachers caught are heavily punished. Ommak National Park rules are also strictly enforced, though the park remains free to visit.
